Preventive Dentistry

Regular care prevents most of the conditions that negatively affect your smile. Let your team at Welch Dental Group answer your questions about proper hygiene and provide you with the most advanced preventive dentistry.

Periodontal Therapy

Most Americans experience some type of periodontal disease (also called gum disease or gingivitis).  This disease is an infection of the supportive tissues of the mouth due to toxic bacteria in the plaque.  Gum disease causes swollen, bleeding gums, receding gums, bad breath, loss of supporting bone leading to possible tooth loss and other major health problems if left untreated.  Fortunately, it is easily prevented with proper hygiene, home care and professional treatment.  Welch Dental Group works with you to evaluate your periodontal health and perform treatment, if needed, to restore the health of your gums and supportive tissue.

Endodontics (Root Canal Therapy)

When the nerve tissue of a tooth has been severely damaged, you may need to have a root canal. Root canal therapy is the most valuable service your dentist can provide.  In most cases, root canal therapy saves teeth that would otherwise need to be removed.  During treatment, your dentist removes the soft tissue within the tooth, or the pulp, and then fills the space with an inert material. The procedure is then completed, in most cases, with a crown. Welch Dental Group utilizes the most advanced techniques to make your root canal procedure as easy and pain free as possible.

Tooth Extraction

Keeping your teeth is the best and preferred solution.  In the instance that a tooth cannot be saved, it may be recommended to extract the tooth.  To ensure you are comfortable throughout your extraction, Welch Dental Group offers a variety of anesthesia and sedation.  Most extractions can be done at Welch Dental Group.  Occasionally, depending upon individual circumstances, these procedures will be referred to a competent specialist.

Fillings

When decay is removed from your tooth, it has to be replaced with a “filling” material. Traditionally, amalgam (silver) fillings were used to fill these spaces. Because Welch Dental Group offers the most advanced dentistry, you can have tooth-colored resin fillings that blend in with your teeth for a beautiful, natural-looking restoration.

Nightguard

A nightguard is a simple, affordable solution that protects your teeth and jaw from the harmful results of nighttime teeth grinding. Your dentist provides either a hard or soft plastic mouth guard to comfortably fit over your upper teeth creating a barrier between your upper and lower teeth.  The cushion between the teeth absorbs the force of grinding.  A Nightguard reduces clenching, grinding, and TMJ problems by helping relax the muscles in the jaw.
